Finally feeling better

Hello. Yes, I'm finally feeling better.  I had a virus that turned into bronchitis then I got a urinary tract infection.  I've been down and out for about three weeks and I haven't done any sewing or anything except lay around and moan. I got real good at that!  Just ask my husband! I am finally feeling lots better and starting to want to sew again.

My machine finally came in. My husband has been putting my frame together. It's all together and the machine is on it except for the computer part and the motor and belt. I also need to put the leaders on the poles.  Hopefully, by this time next week I'll have some quilts done!  So, I hope you have had a great week and have some great time over the next few days with the holiday.  Til next time, happy sewing.

Feeling bad and dreaming of quilting

Nothing to show for this week. I started getting a headache Monday, started feeling bad at work on Tuesday. I went to Tatting but left early, I was feeling achy and getting chills.  I have been ill all week and I'm still home.  My small group meeting was last night and I have sewing tonight but going to miss both.  I got a back up babysitter for the grandchild for tomorrow so she won't be exposed to whatever it is I've got.  I don't know if this is West Nile virus or just a virus but I feel rotten.  Anyway, I have slept alot this week and dreamed quilting...does that count toward getting things done????  I dreamed about midget blocks and doing a Yellow Brick Road quilt as a charity quilt.  I did find my YBR pattern the next day after dreaming about it and can now make that when I feel better.  Anyway, I'm getting lots of TV time in but no sewing, knitting or tatting.  Feel too bad to even look at those.  Today is the first day I've been on the computer.  Hopefully, this will go away soon and  I'll get some sewing time in.

My frame is in but my machine is still on it's way.  It should be here by Monday or Tuesday next week.  I'll let you know when it comes in.  Have a great weekend and go sew.

Return Emails or bouncing emails.

Is anyone else having trouble with emails?  During the recent blog hop, I had several people tell me their emails had bounced coming to me.  This week someone else said the same thing.  I don't know what's going on. I don't know if it's Intenet Explorer, Yahoo or Blogspot, any ideas?  I'm sorry if I don't get your email, please try again. I do like getting mail from everyone so please know that it's not me!

9 Patches and Civil War blocks done for the month.

Well, I finally finished all 40 of my nine patches for the month.    When I first started this swap, , I liked nine patches, now I'm really bored with them...I just keep telling myself, the quilt will be great, the quilt will be great.  I guess the biggest thing is I shouldn't wait until the last minute to do them and if I spread them out over the month, it wouldn't be so bad...I'll start doing that.  Anyway, I finished those and I did my five Civil War blocks for my exchange too.  Both are due this Thursday at my small group.  Here's a pic...

I've been watching the Olympics and I've enjoyed everything about them this year.  I think they were great and I think Great Britain did a wonderful job hosting it.  I'm off now to finish watching the closing ceremonies, til next time, happy sewing.

Time Management

I have been trying something new this week.  I read a post from Madame Samm and she has challenged us to try this for a week.  I started yesterday and I'm going to continue doing this for one week.  It's very simple and easy to do and I hope it helps me have more time to sew and do the things I want to do instead of the things I need or have to do.  You can read about it here.  I've always been a list maker to get things done or remember things. Sometimes this has overwhelmed me but I think this one is very manageable.  Check it out and see if you agree.  I'll let you know how I do this week...

Now, I've got to get busy and sew. I have some deadlines for the week and gotta get busy.  Have a great weekend. til next time, happy sewing!

I joined a new guild.

Last night I met my friend for Mexican food and Margaritas, yum!  We sat and visited and had a great time.  Then, we headed over to the Garland Quilt Guild meeting.  This was the first time I had been and it was great.  Paula Barnes from Bonnie Blue Quilts was the speaker and she had a wonderful trunk show. Lots and lots of Civil War quilts.  She told us that they are in the process of changing their name from Bonnie Blue Quilts to Red Crinoline...you know, what Mammie wore under her dress that Rhett Butler gave her?  Anyway, she was a great speaker and the quilts were wonderful. Sorry, I did not take any pictures.   My friend and I both joined the guild and are looking forward to next month already!  She and I both got a kit to make a charity quilt and some handouts to make the BOM for next month.  I have been meaning to go visit this guild forever and haven't because of other obligations on Tuesday nights.  Well, I decided I would visit and will be going back too.  I'm going to have to rearrange my schedule but that won't be a problem.  I wish some of my meetings were on a different night!

I worked on my 9 patches tonight for awhile but the Olympics drew me in. I love watching these and can't stay away from the TV when they are on!

I'm still waiting on my new machine too.  Tick-tock, tick-tock...I hate waiting. I am not a patient person!

I hope you have a great week and get some sewing time in!

Think Christmas winner!

Yesterday, after work, I drove over and dropped off my Bento Blocks for the swap.  Woo hoo, nothing like finishing before the deadline!  Martha had getten about 20 packages so far and she was expecting 35 in all. The deadline is this Saturday, the 11th.  So, I'll be getting those blocks back after that time.  I cooked supper and then went to my sewing room.  I've been on so many deadlines lately, I felt kinda strange not to feel pressured to work on anything.  I pulled out some fat quarters and cut them up into strips and started working on my forty 9-Patches for this month.  I got the strips all sewn together, now I need to cut them up and create the 9-Patches.  I had to stop to watch The Closer.  There were 2 shows last night.  Next week is her finale...I can't believe this show is going off.  I love this show.  Anyway, I watched Brenda and then went back to my sewing room to pull the name for my Think Christmas drawing.

I want to thank everyone that visited my blog and hope you enjoyed the Think Christmas Blog Hop.  I enjoyed your comments and hope you come back to see me from time to time.  I have been so inspired by this hop and have so many ideas swimming around in my head for Christmas.  Now to find the time to make everything I want to make.  Thanks to Madame Samm and Lesley for all the cheers and motivation and getting this hop together. It was fun....

The winner of my drawing is:

Farm Quilter.
 Her comment was:
I collect Santas and yours is so cute!!! I really like the way you made him three dimensional - really adds a lot to the block! Your tutorial is wonderful - thanks!!

Congratulations!  I'll put her prizes in the mail to her as soon as I get her snail mail address.  To everyone else, I hope you enjoyed the hop and learned a few things and made some new friends too.  I know I did!
So, until next time, happy sewing!

Weekend sewing and happenings.

What a weekend!  I have so much to tell you about.  It's been so busy and I've gotten alot done.

Friday night, I went and sewed with some of my buddies at the church. I started working on my Bento blocks. I'm doing a swap with these and had to have them finished by the 11th.  I just started them as I had been getting ready for the Think Christmas blog hop.  I  was able to finish them up today.  I have to square them up and cut them apart now.  I made 12 blocks and you slice them up to  make 48 blocks.   Here's my blocks. I hate being behind and cutting it so close to the deadline!

Saturday, my MIL came over.  We went down to see my sister.  I took the grandbaby with me too. My sister and BIL had never seen the baby so I thought it was time for them to meet.   We stayed and visited for a little while and they fell in love with Carmen.  It was a great visit.  While I was there, my sister said she had a garage sale earlier in the week but didn't sale everything.  She pulled out three quilt tops she had tried to sell and gave them to me.  She said she didn't like them and I could have them if I wanted them.  Uh, what do you think I did?  Of course I took them.  I was thrilled to get them.  My sister is a hand quilter and she quilts on a frame.  She didn't like these enough to finish them for herself.   She also gave me some books, (regular books to read, not quilting books!) some crocheted doilies, some embroidered place mats. She was having a clear out and I came at just the right time.  Lucky me. My sister is so good to me!  I didn't take a pic of these but I'll show them later.

We left her house and headed back home.  My MIL hadn't been to my #1 son's new house to check it out yet. So, we headed over there for her to see it.  We had a nice little visit there and then headed home again.  When I got home, I opened the mail box and had a nice little gift in there too.  Debby Kratovil sent me her calendar on CD!  How cool is that? What a great gift! Thank you, Debby. I'm going to really enjoy this!

I went to Joann's later and bought some things too.  I have been wanting this little  pincushion for a while now. I've looked at it several times but didn't like the fabrics on the ones I had seen but I decided to get this one. I collect pincushions and this will be a good addition to my little collection.  I also bought a new book and am starting to read it.  I've been wanting to do Etsy for awhile now and this book might just help me do it and answer some of my questions.

Now, the reason my sister gave me the quilt tops was because I told her what I had purchased last week.  I went to a Long Arm demo last week and bought a new machine.  I haven't got it yet but it should come in next week.  I'm so excited.  I bought a Tin Lizzie 18 and can't wait until it arrives.  I hope I can finish up all my UFO's now and my husband hopes I can too!

Now, I have to get off and review and read the blogs of the Think Christmas blog hop. Today is the last day of the hop and I've got to see what everyone has done. I've got to trim my blocks up too so I really have to hurry.  til next time, happy sewing!

Weekly happenings.

Hello, everyone!  Not alot of sewing going on this week. Too much to do...we've been helping move my oldest son and his family since last Saturday.  They sold their house and bought a bigger house about three miles from their last one.  They were supposed to close on both houses on Monday but that didn't happen.  They were allowed to move their stuff into the double garage of the new house over the weekend, so that's what we did.   They stayed with their in-laws until Wednesday and we moved them into the house after closing.  I've tried to watch a little bit of the Olympics too and  between watching that, watching the grandkids, moving and work, my sewing machine has been quiet.  I will be changing that tonight though. I'm going to go to the church and sew with some friends and I'll update you on that tomorrow.  I have also been looking or should I say,  oohing and ahhing over all the wonderful Christmas ideas going on over at the blog hop.  Wow, when am I going to find the time to make everything I want to make????  Ok, got to get busy and run.  til next time, happy sewing!
